Where it started
The plush toy and robot dog share a user entry point, but have different interactions, connection states and capabilities.
My contribution
I contributed to the Flutter companion app and device integration, connecting device management, localization and BLE robot-dog control.
Connection state is part of the interface.
Three engineering decisions
Separate screens from connections
Use page, service, state and localization layers so networking and Bluetooth do not spread across the interface.
Make device state visible
Handle connection, disconnection, commands and status feedback, reflecting device readiness in the app.
Leave a reproducible baseline
Keep automated tests and fresh-clone verification records to support future handoffs.
What came out of it
- The companion app includes Chinese, English and Spanish, device management and BLE robot-dog control.
- The archived fresh-clone verification reports 268 passing automated tests and zero failures.
- These tests do not establish a completed physical app-to-robot acceptance flow.
268 automated tests passed in fresh-clone verification; hardware flow tested separately
What's next
Add physical-device records for permissions, reconnection and device combinations, alongside shareable interface recordings.
Project notes are grounded in reviewed source, experiment records and personal confirmations.
